100 Days Countdown: Record-Breaking Participation for the 9th Asian Winter Games

As the 100-day countdown to the opening of the 9th Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025 begins on Wednesday, the competition venues are ready, according to the Asian Winter Games Organizing Committee.

As of October 29, more than 1500 athletes from 34 countries and regions have registered for the competition, and the number of participating countries, regions and athletes is expected to reach an all-time high in the history of the Asian Winter Games.

The 9th Asian Winter Games will be held in Harbin, Heilongjiang province from February 7 to 14, 2025. This Games will include 6 sports with 11 disciplines and 64 events. Among all the events, 31% are entering the Asian Winter Games for the first time.

China, Japan and South Korea are participating in all events, while Cambodia and Saudi Arabia are registering for the Asian Winter Games for the first time.

Alpine skiing is the most popular discipline, with participants from 25 countries and regions. While the ski mountaineering discipline is newly added to the Asian Winter Games, it has already attracted registrations from 10 countries and regions.

With the successful hosting of the 9th Asian Winter Games, the coverage and influence of winter sports in Asia will further expand, promoting the development of ice and snow sports around the world as well as cultural exchanges within Asia. (By Li Zi’ang/China Youth Daily)
