A recent China Youth Daily survey of 1,334 respondents reveals that 56.7% use artificial intelligence daily, mainly for content generation and as personal life assistants. Despite its widespread utility, 71.7% express concern that over-reliance on AI could foster mental laziness and erode independent thinking. Notably, younger respondents, particularly those born post-2000, report both the highest usage and the deepest concerns. Experts and users emphasize the need to treat AI as a collaborative tool rather than a substitute for human judgment, encouraging mindful engagement to preserve critical cognitive skills.(Picture by Du Yuanchun/China Youth Daily)
