Yuliot Tanjung, deputy minister of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said regulations for establishing the Nuclear Energy Program Implementation Organization are entering the harmonization stage.
"We are pushing this forward. Soon it will enter harmonization for enactment, and the regulations will take the form of a presidential regulation," Yuliot told reporters.
He said that accelerating nuclear power development is part of Indonesia's energy transition strategy.
National electricity capacity is projected to reach 443 gigawatts by 2060, with 79 percent coming from renewable energy, the official added.
