University of Science and Technology of China has developed Jiuzhang-4, a programmable quantum computing prototype. It successfully manipulates 3,050 photons, outperforming the world’s fastest supercomputer by 10 to the power of 54 times in specific tasks. The research was published in Nature. It marks another major leap forward for China’s leading optical quantum computing research.
