Jilin province's Changchun hosted a massive choir performance on Monday evening to begin a countdown to the 2027 Winter Universiade.

Seventeen choirs and over 1,000 performers used their voices to unite youthful energy and urban charm and set an inclusive precedent as Changchun prepares for the upcoming student and youth winter sports events.

The performance featured participants from schools of all age groups, employees from enterprises and institutions, and social art groups in the cities of Changchun, Jilin, and Siping. Additionally, a Hungarian university choir was invited to perform at the event.

Nan Chunhua, director of the large events department of the Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade Organizing Committee, described the performance as a transitional point as the city prepares to host. "We hope to use the popular art of choral music to narrate Changchun's journey in welcoming the event," she said.

She highlighted the performance's use of robots, original winter-themed songs, and youth hosts, saying that the "exchange of songs and music between young people from China and abroad" encapsulates the theme of the Winter Universiade.

As an official partner of the Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade, China FAW Group's Hongqi brand unveiled several new vehicle models featuring cutting-edge technology.

The Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade will be held next year from January 15 to 25 in the cities of Changchun and Jilin.
