The Start of Summer is the first solar term of the summer, which marks when all things thrive in joyful growth. There is a custom of "Tasting the New" on this day in the regions of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, savoring the sweetness of cherries, the tartness of green plums, and the fresh aroma of newly harvested wheat, all gifts of early summer.
