On October 30th, local time, the 37th Congress of the Association of National Olympic Committees (abbreviated as ANOC) opened in Cascais, Portugal. At the award ceremony that evening, Ma Long, the Chinese table tennis player, was awarded the Outstanding Sporting Career Award.

As the first table tennis player to receive the ANOC Outstanding Sporting Career Award, Ma Long said: "My biggest achievement is representing Chinese table tennis team for 21 years. I know the table tennis is not yet a big sport in the world, and I hope that with my efforts and the all efforts of the global table tennis family, it will grow bigger than ever."
