The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) clarified in a statement on Thursday that the election process for the organization's president was conducted "in strict accordance with the ITTF Constitution and Statutes and in full respect of the Member Associations' rights," rejecting what it called “unsubstantiated allegations of irregularity.”

Petra Sorling of Sweden was re-elected as president of the ITTF at the Annual General Meeting in Doha on Tuesday. Sorling received 104 votes, while her opponent, Khalil Al-Mohannadi, received 102.

Doubts were raised by participants during the roll-call voting process, and the AGM was suspended after being disrupted by outsiders.

The ITTF also stated that it will conduct an investigation to determine responsibilities and take measures to prevent a similar disruption in the future.
